The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has launched the third phase of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 3.0) in January 2021. The scheme aims to skill 1.8 crore youth in various sectors by 2024.
Under PMKVY 3.0, the government will provide training in 500+ job roles across 26 sectors. The scheme will also focus on skilling women, persons with disabilities, and those from underserved communities.
The government has allocated Rs. 30,000 crore for PMKVY 3.0. The scheme will be implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
PMKVY 3.0 to focus on new-age skills
PMKVY 3.0 will focus on new-age skills such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. The scheme will also focus on skilling youth for jobs in the services sector.
The government is targeting to skill 10 lakh youth in new-age skills under PMKVY 3.0. The scheme will also focus on upskilling and reskilling of existing workers.
PMKVY 3.0 to be implemented through a blended learning model
PMKVY 3.0 will be implemented through a blended learning model. This means that the training will be delivered through a combination of online and offline modes.
The online mode will be used for delivering theoretical content, while the offline mode will be used for practical training. The government is targeting to train 1.25 crore youth through the online mode under PMKVY 3.0.
PMKVY 3.0 to be monitored through a dashboard
The government will monitor the implementation of PMKVY 3.0 through a dashboard. The dashboard will track the progress of the scheme and will provide insights into the performance of the scheme.
The dashboard will also be used to identify areas where the scheme can be improved. The government is committed to making PMKVY 3.0 a success and to skilling 1.8 crore youth in the next four years.
