The Indian Navy has released a notification for the recruitment of Short Service Commission (SSC) Officers in the Information Technology (IT) Branch for the January 2024 course. The online application process will begin on August 4, 2023 and close on August 20, 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the SSC Officer IT (Jan 2024) entry, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Indian nationality
* Age between 21 and 27 years as on July 1, 2024
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks
* Minimum of 60% marks in English in both class X and class XII
* Good physical and mental health
* Physically fit to undergo rigorous training
Application Process
Interested candidates can apply online through the Indian Navy website from August 4 to August 20, 2023. The application fee is Rs. 250 for general category candidates and Rs. 125 for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Selection Process
The selection process for the SSC Officer IT (Jan 2024) entry will consist of the following stages:
* Written Examination
* SSB Interview
* Medical Examination
The written examination will be held in September 2023. The syllabus for the examination will cover topics such as General Knowledge, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science.
The SSB interview will be held in October 2023. The SSB interview is a two-day process that will assess the candidate’s personality, aptitude, and leadership qualities.
The medical examination will be held in November 2023. The medical examination will assess the candidate’s physical and mental fitness to join the Indian Navy.
Training
Successful candidates will undergo training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala, Kerala. The training will last for 50 weeks and will cover topics such as naval discipline, warfare, and IT.
Post-Training Career
After completing training, SSC Officer IT (Jan 2024) officers will be commissioned as Sub-Lieutenants in the Indian Navy. They will be deployed on various ships, submarines, and shore establishments. They will also have the opportunity to specialize in various IT fields such as networking, security, and software development.
